Lost sheep

This week in my weekly reading, I found many amazing principles and amazing stories. My favorite one was the story of the lost lamb; the Shepherd is traveling with his sheep when he realizes he is missing one. So, he leaves his sheep and goes and searches for the one that is lost. I love this so much because it shows that the lord is always willing to look for us when we are lost and help us find our way back home. This scripture/ parable is the reason why I’m so excited to serve my mission in the future, because I get to help the lord find his lost sheep and return them to our father in heaven. We are all lost at some point in our lives, the lord uses others to help us when we have fallen. We can return the favor by helping other when they have fallen or are lost by leading them through example by being Christlike in all our doings. I’ve set my daily goal to be on the look out for those who are lost and help them out and help them return to our father in heaven. No one should be lost.

Compassion

If we show compassion to others, we shall be like Christ. (Matt 14:13-21) "When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the fives loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat were about five thousand men, beside women and children. While I was reading Matt 14, I came along this story about how Jesus found out John had been beheaded, so he left and went to a desert place to mourn of John's death. But the people who were with him, felt bad for him and followed him that they may comfort him. Because the people followed Jesus, he "was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed the sick". I love this because even though Jesus was mourning for his cousin he felt compassion for the people so went out of his way and healed their sick and fed them. From my own experience, when I'm in my dark/sad place, I find helping others makes me feel better, like providing my service to others helps me feel Christ's love for me and makes me feel better.

Faith in the Lord

If we have faith in the Lord, we can be healed of all things. (Matt 9:20-22) In this weeks weekly reading i came upon these scriptures and it made me think about if we have this type of faith many things will be possible. "And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. (Matt 9:20-22) From reading these scriptures, i have learned that if i have faith like this woman i can be healed of any sickness me or a family member has been struggling with. I have been trying to surround my life with this faith not only for health but with any obstacles i may be struggling with like grades or temptations. I have a firm testimony that if we have Faith in the Lord we can be healed and even overcome many difficult things going on in our lives. I know that President Nelson i the true current prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that Joseph Smith did truly see God and Jesus Christ in the woods and that they had him translate the golden plates so we may have the scriptures today. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Do as the Lord asks of us

If I am faithful to the Lord and I do want the Lord has asked of us, nothing shall be impossible. This week in my daily scripture reading I came upon this scripture and it spoke out to me, "For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:37). As I read this I thought about it and this meaning popped in my head. If we are doing as the Lord has asked us to do and we keep his commandments, with God we shall be able to accomplish many great things. Another scripture popped in my head after reading this scripture and it was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". This scripture has been one of my favorite scriptures for a while. I have a firm testimony that if we do as the Lord has asked of us and we are faithful we shall be able to accomplish all things. I know the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is the true church upon the Earth and that President Russell M Nelson is the true prophet upon this Earth. I know the Joseph Smith did truly see God and Jesus Christ and was asked to translate the Book of Mormon for us to read and learn about the prophets of old.
